For the Love of Equine
Horses and donkeys are acutely and intuitively attuned to human emotions and behavior.
Ground services and therapeutic riding offer a connection with humans that is powerful, healing, and can often assist with recovery from trauma, substance abuse, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, autism, and more. At For the Love of Equine, we believe strongly in the power of the human-horse connection.
Our Mission & History
Mission & History
In June 2025 Founder Mary Baca, attended a Film screening of the documentary Rescued Hearts in Sedona Arizona. This documentary explored and represented the horse-human connection, sharing stories of humans who experienced healing while in the presence or partnership with horses during horse therapy. Mary came back from Sedona knowing she had to start doing this work which she did. She also decided that this horse-human connection had to be made available to as many people as possible. She started For the Love of Equine to raise money to help people pay for Equine Assisted Therapy/Coaching who otherwise could not afford it.
The story of Mercedes
Mary Baca, the founder of For The Love of Equine had been looking for the right image to use as the logo. One that would touch the soul. She saw a piece of art that Debbie Jeppesen made from an image of her horse "Mercedes" eye, and that was it! Mary contacted Debbie, asked for permission, and a beautiful exchange unfolded from there. Today the eye you see in For the Love of Equine's logo and merchandise is in fact "Mercedes" eye.
